About the Cover
Cover design Trajectories and velocity profiles of reaching-to-grasp movements before (upper panel) and after (lower panel) the reversible muscimol inactivation of the bank of inferior premotor area F5. Movement of the hand contralateral to the lesion was recorded. Note that before inactivation there is a difference in the hand velocity used to grasp three different objects. This difference is lost after F5 inactivation. The experiment was carried out in a monkey trained to grasp visually presented small and large objects. Each panel shows, from top to bottom: (i) Arm trajectories (hand starting point on the left); (ii) Profiles of velocities of x (dark blue), y (green) and z (light blue) components of the hand movement. (iii) Profiles of the change of the velocity module of the arm movement vector. Letters a, b and c indicate grasping of a thin plate, a large sphere and a horizontal cylinder, respectively. The dotted line represents the value of the peak velocity recorded during grasping of the small object.
